Thanksgiving is almost here—a time for gratitude, family, and of course, amazing food! Let’s take a moment to reflect on the history of this special holiday, why we celebrate, and spice up your festivities with some unique recipes to impress your guests.
🇺🇸 A Brief History of Thanksgiving
The origins of Thanksgiving trace back to 1621, when the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag people shared an autumn harvest feast in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This three-day celebration was about gratitude and community.
Fast forward to 1863, President Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday during the Civil War to encourage unity and give thanks for the blessings we still had as a nation. Today, it’s a cherished tradition of family, friends, and reflection.
🍷 Why Do We Celebrate Thanksgiving?
Thanksgiving is about more than just turkey and pumpkin pie (although we love those too!). It's a time to:
- Express Gratitude: Reflect on what we’re thankful for.
- Spend Time with Loved Ones: Gather with family and friends.
- Celebrate Abundance: Share a meal to honor our blessings.
Whether you’re hosting a traditional meal or starting new traditions, it’s a moment to pause and celebrate togetherness.
